Meet Rep. Josey Garcia
State Representative Josey Garcia represents Texas House District 124, which covers the western area of San Antonio — the seventh largest city in the United States, proudly known as Military City, USA.
A lifelong servant leader, Representative Garcia draws on her lived experiences to guide her fight for greater opportunity for all Texans. She spent her childhood in the foster care system, attending 13 different schools before entering high school and living with multiple foster families.
At 16, she enrolled in the Delayed Enlistment Program, securing her place in the U.S. Air Force. Over her 20-year career, she served deployments in Cameroon, Iraq, and Germany, including during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Her final duty station was Lackland Air Force Base, where she served from 2001 until her retirement in 2014 as a decorated combat veteran.
Following her retirement, Josey and her husband, Ramon — a Purple Heart recipient and U.S. Army veteran — made San Antonio their forever home. She became a published author and a passionate community advocate. In 2020, she co-founded Uniting America Outreach, a nonprofit delivering food and supplies to those in need.
During Winter Storm Uri in 2021, the organization provided more than 9,000 meals to vulnerable residents. In 2022, it raised over $50,000 to deliver food, clothing, and hygiene products — including direct relief to families in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, during the border crisis.Josey and Ramon share a blended family of eight children, including two adult sons on the autism spectrum.As the State Representative for House District 124, Josey Garcia is committed to championing those who need her voice most — veterans, children impacted by the foster care system, retirees, and working families seeking better-paying jobs and affordable housing.
